Scientific Notation


In this article we shall discuss about expanding scientific notation. Expanding Scientific notation is meant by transform very large numbers into simplest form of a number. That is called as expanding scientific notation. Scientific notation is exponent of the base integer 10 have expressed in the number scientific notation. Example for scientific notation is 759000000 this can be note down as 7.59 x 108. Here, 8 is the power of 10. And the one more method in decimal is 0.0000058 = 5.8 x 10-6    


The example problems based on expanding scientific notation is given below that,
  • Example 1:
How to transfer 49000 into expanding scientific notation?

Solution:
Step 1:
The given value is 49000.

Step 2:
The given value is not a big number, but it is simple to convert scientific notation.
Initially note down 4.9 x 104 = 49000 [104 = 10000]

Step 3:
After that it can be expanding scientific notation is 4.9 x 104.
  • Example 2:
How to transfer 768000 into expanding scientific notation?
Solution:
Step 1:
The given value is 768000.
Step 2:
The given value is a big number, but it is simple to convert scientific notation.
Initially note down 7.68 this is not equivalent to specified number.

Step 3:
Discover how many numbers available following the decimal point in previous step.
Present are 5 digits following the decimal places.
7.68 × (100000)
Therefore the notation will be 105.
Step 4:
The expanding scientific notation can be note down as 7.68 x 105
  • Example 3:
How to transfer 849000 into expanding scientific notation?
Solution:
Step 1:
The given value is 849000.
Step 2:
The given value is not a big number, but it is simple to convert scientific notation.
Initially note down the number as 8.49
Step 3:
There are 5 digit following the number is there so we can write 105.
Step 4:
The expanding scientific notation can be note down as 8.49 x 105.
