Arithmetic Mean Calculator

Formula:

Example 1: Calculate the arithmetic mean of following ages of 10 players; 20, 30, 40, 78, 65, 98, 77, 79, 63, 64.

Solution:

Formula:  (a_1 + a_2 + a_3 +... + a_n) / n

Here a1 = 20, a2 = 30… and a10 = 64, n = 10

=  (20 + 30 + 40 + 78 + 65 + 98 + 77 + 79 + 63 + 64) / 10

= 614 / 10 = 61.4

Therefore arithmetic mean of 10 player's age is 61.4.

Example 2: Calculate the arithmetic mean of following marks of 10 girls; 75, 93, 26, 69, 49, 45, 39, 30, 47, 73.

Solution:

Formula:  (a_1 + a_2 + a_3 +... + a_n) / n

Here a1 = 75, a2 = 93… and a10 = 73, n = 10

= (75 + 93 + 26 + 69 + 49 + 45 + 39 + 30 + 47 + 73) / 10

= 546 / 10 = 54.6

Therefore arithmetic mean of 10 girl's mark is 54.6.

Example 3: Calculate the arithmetic mean of following heights of 8 boys; 136, 149, 120, 133, 155, 163, 169, 172.

Solution:

Formula: (a_1 + a_2 + a_3 +... + a_n) / n

Here a1 = 136, a2 = 149… and a8 = 172, n = 10

= (136 + 149 + 120 + 133 + 155 + 163 + 169 + 172) / 8

= 1197 / 8 = 149.62

Therefore arithmetic mean of 8 boy's heights is 149.62.

Example 4: Calculate the arithmetic mean of following marks of 9 students; 39, 58, 97, 69, 79, 92, 49, 50, 72.

Solution:

Formula: (a_1 + a_2 + a_3 +... + a_n) / n

Here a1 = 39, a2 = 58… and a9 = 72, n = 9

= (39 + 58 + 97 + 69 + 79 + 92 + 49 + 50 + 72) / 9

= 605 / 9 = 67.22

Therefore arithmetic mean of 9 student's marks is 67.9.
