The angle between any side of a polygon and a line extended from the next side of the polygon is called Exterior Angle of the polygon. By adding the Interior and Exterior Angles we get a straight line, that is 180°,In other words the sum of exterior angles get one full revolution.
A plane figure bounded by a number of straight sides. A regular polygon has all equal sides and all internal angles are equal. . Interior and exterior angles of a polygon form a linear pair that is 180°.
Sum of the exterior angles of the regular polygon is 360/n . However, exterior angles of a regular polygon are equal . Therefore a regular n-sided polygon, the exterior angle is given as .Regular polygons also called as convex or star.
Understanding Sum of Exterior Angles is always challenging for me but thanks to all math help websites to help me out.
Examples for exterior angle in regular polygon
Ex : Find the the exterior angle of the regular polygon of 10 sides.
Sol : Given data, n = 10 sides
Step 1: Each exterior angle of 'n' sided Polygon = 360/n .
360/10 = 36
the each exterior angle of 10 sided polygon is 360.
Ex 2 : Find the the exterior angle of the regular hexagon.
Sol : A hexagon has 6 sides, so, n = 6
Step 1: The each exterior angle of a regular hexagon = 360/n
360/6 = 60
the each exterior angle of a regular hexagon is 600.
Practice Problems on exterior angle in regular polygon
Pro1: Find the measure of each of the exterior angle of a regular pentagon of 5 sides.
Ans: 72 degrees.
Pro 2 : Find the measure of each of the exterior angle of a regular Octagon of 8 sides.
Ans : 45 degrees.
Algebra is widely used in day to day activities watch out for my forthcoming posts on factor and simplify the algebraic expression and cbse class 12. I am sure they will be helpful.
Pro3 : Exterior angle of the regular polygon is 400.Then find no of sides of the Polygon
Ans : 9 sides.
